LoRa Communication

Long Range Communication

LoRa (Long Range) is a wireless communication protocol in the unlicensed frequency range with long range, low energy consumption and low infrastructure costs.

Properly deployed, LoRa is the ideal communication technology for battery-powered sensor nodes thanks to its over 10 km range and low power consumption. Low infrastructure costs and an independant network infrastructure keep installation costs low, enabling the scaling of IoT applications with a variety of sensor nodes.

A small disadvantage of the LoRa technology may be the limited bandwidth that prevents the transfer of large amounts of data. Werktag knows these limits and knows how they can be circumvented thanks to intelligent sensors and an optimal system architecture.

LoRa describes the physical modulation of radio technology and enables the transmission of data over long distances with low energy consumption, LoRaWAN identifies the associated network and defines the communication protocol and the system architecture.
